Hadhrat Abu Dardaa Radhiallahu Anhu reports that Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: “The one who recites durood upon me ten times in the morning, and ten times in the evening, will receive my intercession on the day of Qiyaamah.
A man once saw a person in his dream in the most horrific and dreadful form. Upon enquiry from the person as to who he was the man replied, “I am your evil deeds.”
The man then asked, “And how can I be saved from you?”
He replied, “By continuously reciting abundant durood upon Hadhrat Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).
A pious person reports the following incident. He says, “I knew a person by the name of Mistah. During his lifetime he was unmindful of his Deen. After his demise I had seen a dream of him and asked him his condition. He replied that Allah Ta’ala had pardoned his sins. Upon my enquiry of the reason he replied, “Once I was writing Hadith from a Muhaddith. Whenever he recited durood upon Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) I also recited it aloud. Hearing my voice, the whole gathering would also recite durood upon Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). For this, Allah Ta’ala pardoned all those that were present in the gathering. (Fazaail Durood)
Hadhrat Abdullah ibn Amr ibnul Aas (Radhiallahu Anhuma) reports that he heard Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) saying: “Whenever you hear the muazzin calling out the azaan, thenrepeat the words of the azaan after him, thereafter recite durood upon me. Verily whoever recites durood upon me once, Allah Ta’ala sends ten blessings on him. Then supplicate to Allah Ta’ala to bless me with the honour of ‘waseela’ which is a lofty position and rank in Jannah which will be exclusively granted to one of Allah Ta’ala’s special servants. I earnestly hope that I am granted that position. And whoever supplicates to Allah Ta’ala to grant me the ‘waseela’, my intercession becomes compulsory for him.

Hafiz Izzuddeen bin Abdus Salaam Rahmatullahi Alaihi says, “Our durood upon Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam is by no means to be considered as an intercession by us on his behalf, because we are not in any way fit to intercede on his behalf. In reality, Allah Ta’ala has ordered us to repay our benefactor for some of his favours and generosity. No other benefactor has been more generous to us than Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Due to the fact that we are unable to repay him for his generosity, Allah Ta’ala has seen our weakness and shown us the correct manner of repaying Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), and that is by reciting durood upon him. Since we are unable to even fulfil this command of Allah Ta’ala in the correct manner, we beg of Allah Ta’ala to convey durood upon Hadhrat Rasulu llah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam according to His (Allah Ta’ala’s) majesty and exalted position.”
